World Bridge Tour will bring bridge masters from all corners of the world together in 5 different continents, and the BK Istanbul Open, only meeting in Türkiye, will be played at the Büyük Club facilities between September 06-09, 2024. BK Istanbul Open will be organized by Büyük Kulüp Association Bridge Sports Club, and will come to life for the first time with the sponsorship of TURKON Holding-Nevzat Kalkavan and the technical support of the Turkish Bridge Federation.

BK Istanbul Open will bring together Turkish players who are members of the Turkish Bridge Federation and WBT, with many elite players from dozens of different countries around the world. It will stand out with its WBT tour ranking points and a total prize of 40,000 USD to be awarded.

The scoring will be done on a pair basis, and the catered opening ceremony of the BK Istanbul Open will be held with a Bosphorus tour on September 5th. The elimination rounds, the first stage of the tournament, will be held on September 6th and 7th, and the finals on September 8th and 9th. The award ceremony with dinner will be held again on September 9th.

Participants are obliged to comply with the International Bridge Laws, TBF regulations, Büyük Kulüp rules and the rules stated in this regulation. Wearing the badges that will be distributed is mandatory in the festival area.

Except the participants and officials, no one can enter the festival area.

Participants are expected to wear appropriate clothes in compliance with the Büyük Kulüp rules. Please see next tab for Büyük Kulüp Dress Code.

TBF Screen Regulations apply. ‘Brown Sticker’ conventions and ‘HUM’ systems cannot be played. Participants fill in a convention card.

Competitors who do not have a sufficient convention card must play the TBF standard or Büyük Kulüp standard convention card. The period to appeal against referee decisions is 30 minutes starting from the announcement of session scores.

In case of an appeal against the referee decision, it will be reviewed again by the chief referee and finalized.

According to the TBF Score Correction Regulation, scores that need to be corrected and are obviously incorrect can be corrected after this period if the next stage has not started or awards have not been distributed yet.

Players must be in their seats on time in each round. Late-arriving players may be penalized, and boards that they may have seen may not be played. In such cases, the team will be awarded A-.

If a pair wins two or more prizes in a tournament, they receive the more valuable prize in monetary terms. The other prize is given to the next pair or team. If a pair in a pairs tournament wins both the Büyük Kulüp and Women’s or Mixed prizes, the Women’s or Mixed prize is awarded to this pair, and the next Büyük Kulüp member pair receives the Büyük Kulüp prize. In order to qualify for the Büyük Kulüp prize, both members of a pair in a pairs tournament must be members of the Büyük Kulüp.

In case of equality, the match points and carryover scores are carefully examined to determine whether a equality exists. If multiple pairs finish the tournament with the same score, they share the awards corresponding to their rank. If the award sharing results in a second award of equal monetary value for a pair, this pair takes the shared award. The other award is given to the next pair. Turkish participants must have paid the 2024 TBF license fee.

Pairs may not change players during the tournament. Four sessions of elimination will be played on September 6th and 7th, with two sessions Each. Sessions are planned as 24 boards. The number of pairs playing in the A final will be announced at the start of the tournament.

A final will be played for four sessions on September 8th and 9th, and B final will be played for three sessions. The pair that finishes first in the A final starts with a score of 2 tops, while the pair that finishes last starts with 0 tops. The carry overs for other pairs are calculated according to the following formula:

Carryover = (pair’s score – last-placed pair’s score) / (1st pair’s score – last-placed pair’s score) * 2 tops

The A final is played in two (three) rounds of two boards each. All remaining pairs in the final play against each other.

There is no carryover in the B final. Prizes are awarded based on the ranking obtained after three sessions.

Tournament participants shall dress in accordance with the Büyük Kulüp Association.

2. Stylish and cozy: Men wear straight jeans and chino pants, shirts, classic t-shirts, blazers and tweed jackets without obligation of a tie, while women, not necessarily being formal, wear elegant, flamboyant and comfortable clothes.
